Bernardo Silva tweet controversy

No but by him keep on stating the obvious over and over he isn't doing Bernardo any favours. I'm a long term Blue and It makes me uncomfortable and I'll tell you how it sounds from my perspective. " Hey it's a joke between friends, I don't understand all the fuss, surely people have more important things to worry about." It smacks of arrogance and a lack of understanding and empathy, that lots of people have been on the receiving end of such 'Jokes' and had to give a sickly smile and suck it up. Also Bernardo being a famous footballer using such a joke makes it somehow acceptable when whatever the innocence behind it it isn't. Anichebe was spot on in his comments.

It doesn't give me any pleasure writing this but if that's how it makes me feel as a blue then I can imagine how others are viewing it.

The club should have called a press conference as soon as this shit started. Pep, Bernardo, possibly Mendy and whatever knob is supposed to be head of our PR department. No questions just a statement from Bernardo that he is sorry if his tweet caused any offence, it was never his intention, but in light of today's problems with racism in hindsight he can see how it could have upset some people and for that he apologises if that has been the case. He denounces racism in any shape or form and will be careful in what he puts on social media in the future. Job done. Mendy could say similar.

Instead it has rumbled on and on with no real explanation or even a word from Bernardo or Mendy which has made it a hell of a lot worse.
I respect how you feel,i don't agree with it,bernie doesn't need to do a public apology, this goes back to my stance on social media pressure to grovel even when no-one involved was offended, that is my bench mark, what he did wasn't racist, doing what you said would make him sound like he is admitting it was racist, everyone knows he and benny have written to the fa and he will learn from it,that is enough imo,it has suited sky's agenda to keep this going, city players and club are targets,no other club would get this over this situation,we also don't know how bernie is,he is probably distraught,do the offended want him crying in a press conference, jesus fucking christ
Good idea to close this thread for a while

This thread really needs closing, everyone is going round in circles about a joke tweet, and i don't even have twitter
Shut the thread down and be done with it

You are probably right, it has gone full circle. Maybe a thread opened after the fa come to what is probably going to be a predictable decision.

Lower,it's a story here,is it a story in any country that the image is offensive in?
Of course but as long as the media keep driving their version its turning into a bigger non story snowflakes everywhere who are too easily offended.

A joke yes, but the word "tweet" is the issue, that's public, not private.

The whole debate is extraordinary, tonight's sky coverage of it was quite incredible, and quite obviously a targetted attack aimed at getting Bernardo a ban, which his foolishness doesn't deserve.

I don't want to put you on 'ignore'.

You haven't qualified any of your points with 'experience', just opinion.

If you have related experiences, state them, so you can make me look an idiot.

My skin colour makes me more qualified to offer an opinion, just like Raheem, whom I don't disagree with.

All this shit was AVOIDABLE.

Ok my suggesting you put me on ignore was quite simply on account of your borderline abusive response.

I am not sure how old you are but if you are anything close to my age it is highly likely you have indeed endured some totally unacceptable cretiny that if you are a black guy. Thankfully things have improved and whilst things are not perfect and probably will never be sadly and for all kinds of reasons that will never be an justifiable excuse.

I have no intention or wish to make you look an idiot why should I? My own experience is from having hidden disabilities and long term illness (fibromyalgia, M.E, and a good dollop of dyslexia thrown in for good measure). I have had comments suggesting my conditions dont actually exist, that I should get a grip, man up and much worse. Being male has made me a particular target and infact continues today unchecked. There has been little or no progress made against discrimination bullying and abusing people like myself over the years nor is their any real sign of that changing. I can assure you I could write a book. I generally do not divulge my problems as it will usually only provoke more ridicule accusations of being lazy and thick of course. I absolutely gurantee there will be plenty reading this thinking it is all bollocks. I hope this goes someway to qualifying my claims to have a very thorough understanding of how these things go.

I can tell you that without question I would personally be a healthy black guy being racially (verbally) abused than what I have to contend with. That does not mean that I condone it nor that I think it is any more or any less acceptable/unacceptable. It most certainly does make me have an understanding and can only sympathise and condemn any such nonsense you have encountered.

Anyway thats quite enough of my problems but I hope the little insight I have given clears any misconceptions up. You may not agree with my views on the issues covered in this thread and as I say I have no issue at all with that, but hope you will see fit to reconsider your accusiations of lack of intellect or of having no understanding of the issues covered.
