LESS than €80m (£67m)?
Lets just say, I'm not happy with how the club has handled this. The fee is an absolute joke and I'm finding it hard to understand the logic in why we didnt set a deadline on this before the season started, and why we are selling a key player in our squad for half his value when the season is already started. We should have told him in May that if you want to leave this summer we want at least £85m (which is lower than what you are worth to us) and you have until August 1, before the season starts, to sort a deal out. That would have been more than fair, without putting the club in a terrible position. I love Bernardo, but the club always comes first and if he wanted out he should have sorted out a deal well before the season started. Just like Sterling, Jesus & Zinchenko did.
If this is true, we could actually manage to sign the Norwegian beast Erling Haaland and still weaken our team in the same window. Not sure what the clubs plan is here, or why we would allow Barca to f*ck up our planning this season. If they wanted him they should have sorted it out a month ago instead of signing every other player available in Europe first. If we let Bernardo leave now when the season has already started, it has been handled in such a bad way thats so uncharacteristic from how we usually handle our transfer business. I have not seen this poor transfer planning from the club in over a decade, so dont really know what to expect.
It almost feels so absurd we would agree to this and let Barca just come in whenever they please so late in the window, that I find it hard to believe it could be true.
