Bernardo Silva

There’s a couple of factors at play here which I think have conspired to convince him a new deal might be a smart move.

1 - Barcelona’s unwillingness to make a reasonable offer, despite years of him apparently being their ‘top target’ every summer. He has openly acknowledged the need for there to be a decent offer to facilitate his move, and must be frustrated that despite all their promises they keep prioritising elsewhere. He’d be forgiven for thinking this isn’t going to change any time soon.

2 - while he waits around for Barcelona to sort their shit out, he’s missing out on a significant salary uplift (almost double, if reports are to be believed). He must look at less vital players like Mahrez and Cancelo signing new deals and being paid more than he is, whilst he’s fully aware he’s one of our most important players - and should be paid accordingly!

If we’re willing to extend his deal for another couple of years with a clause that lets him leave in the summer of 2025 (his current contract length) for a release clause, then I really don’t see any reason why he wouldn’t sign a new deal.

Let’s face it - Barcelona aren’t going to sign him this summer, so he might as well get his salary doubled for the next couple of years - in which time they might be in a position to actually register him!
Always considered Bernie to be a clever guy. I don’t know what his academic record is but he comes over as smart. He must have lost a ton of money playing this game. He should tell Barca to go fuck themselves and make sure he scores a hat trick every time we play them. A playing career is short. Why would anybody willingly choose to leave the best run club in the world and join a financial basket-case like Barca. He hasn’t thought it through. And he needs to buy his wife a series of sun lounge sessions and tell her to stop bloody mithering. Just another Insta vacuous, look at me disciple, unfortunately she is influencing his career to its detriment.

Just shows how everyone has different tastes and priorities.

Bernardo Silva’s missus wants to leave Manchester; Leroy Sané’s missus stayed in Manchester with the kids and didn’t move to Munich with him.

Fabrizio Romano is doubling down on Silva agreeing a new deal as he was doubling down on Gvardiol
Has he managed to get contacts at City.
Silva signing a new contract is gonna hit like a 100 million new signing.

Might be the agents side he has been getting information from.

He can always sign a deal with a release clause but only triggered by certain clubs, paying a particular amount of money.
This would be the neatest solution, and importantly it would help formalise everything, rather than have all this will he won’t he, how much are Barcelona/PSG bidding bullshit every summer.

There would of course have to be a discussion about the value of the release clauses, but a substantial pay rise would help here.

Not true. Sane’s missus/kids came back to Manchester while they were having work done to their house in Germany.

I agree with almost all of that apart from barcelona getting their shit together, everything they are doing at the mo is just shifting the problems they have now for much bigger problems in the future, i think its going to be very bad for them

Barca are drifting towards a financial meltdown. They did their dodgy deals re tv rights last summer but, instead of using that money to bring about some financial stability they blew circa €160m on players and brought another 4 or 5 in on free contracts - (their wage bill was at the max allowed under la Liga rules) they seem determined to spend every penny of income they receive. They are borrowing long term to cover short term costs… a bit like getting a mortgage to cover your weekly shopping bill.
