I’ll be so gutted when Bernie goes. One of my all time City players.
With you on that, out of all the players that have left or retired recently, I feel we’d miss him the most, especially as he’s in his prime and such a work horse, he must’ve played in six different positions at City, he will be sorely missed as will his top tier shithousing

I would understand it. He has won everything now. 2 years in sun and luxury whilst trousering a decent wedge then last few years at Benfica. He will stay fit well into his thirties barring a bad injury.

For sure. I'm not saying Neves is top drawer but he's a slightly unusual case in that he's still only 26 and he's not a player on massive wages that hasn't worked out. He doesn't quite fit the profile of the other players who've moved there. I guess his move to Wolves raised a few eye brows in the first place as they were in the championship at the time. He has form for making moves like that if the money is right.
Their profile is: the very best (and in some cases highest profile) players that are willing to move there.

That leads you predominantly to over 30s and Muslim players, often both. There will be the occasional mercenary type, who will probably have a super agent, and will happily take the biggest offer - here is where you have Neves. Neves is a top, top player for that level.

Bernardo? Doesn’t strike me as that type of guy but if the offer is big enough it makes it difficult to refuse.

Eventually the Saudi League will start to target young prospects from South America and, well, everywhere else - promising crazy money and game time to develop in a league that people are talking about and that improve the overall quality of the league.

Get the feeling with Bernardo that the tail is wagging the dog

Ideally I'd like Bernardo to stay, quality player who gives his all, plus he despises the murderers.
He apparently wants southern Europe, climate, food, culture and closer to his family, if a club comes in with the right dosh I'd wish him all the best, however, if one of the Saudis come in for him fleece them for £100 million minimum, every little helps :)

Why? It's huge money and the weather is pretty nice.
As stated in other threads, the attitude has relaxed an awful lot in Saudi Arabia. Not like the lads a party animal, and I imagine there's some pretty nice restaurants to eat in.
Do I think he's heading there too early - yes - but by the looks of things European clubs might just have to get used to it in the short term.
Hmmm?

No way Bernardo‘s going to Saudi, too fucking hot for John. I’m going to report him to the RSPCA on animal cruelty and will need to do his time at the Etihad

I have no idea about the reliability of CNN Portugal, have they ever spoken about transfers before.. The Marca stuff wasnt very high though. It's depending on journalists there. (who)

The weather is pretty horrible, dust storms, strong winds, incredibly dry air (not very healthy), not to mention 45-50 C in summer.
If its anything like Qatar where I am, they don't play in summer. Yes it's not great early or late in the season but it's blood lovely in between. My son plays for a pro clubs youth team, most QSL games are played at night as are the trainings. After a season my son didn't complain playing in the heat .......... for free.

If he is leaving them him leaving for Saudi is the best thing for City.
We get the fee he is worth and not get fucked around all summer by Barcelona.
Bernardo gets an absolute satchel of cash and then after 2-3 seasons he can go back to his home team and paly until he doesn't want to anymore.
Cracking player and all respect to him for playing like he has, while wanting to leave.

They were both up to mischief prior to 2019, in Bernardo's first two years.

Imagine anyone winning the lottery jackpot every month for three years, tax free!

If they pay is what we want and it doesn’t hurt us where he goes then good luck to him! Love the guy but if he wants out and can earn a shit load then fair play. We can literally get our Declan Rice transfer fee sorted as well in one go! ;-)

Mail Sport understands the Saudi Pro League side have the budget to offer wages north of £75million a season as their recruitment drive continues.

Gaughan is not really clear what is happening though. Seems like no one really knows.
