My God that's a bit strange. Just reading the Bert Trautmann biography (superb read) and the next page I have to read is all about his transfer to City! He's just leaving St Helens Town...

Yep, I really hope we get a good turn out for this. We at Maine Road F.C. will be doing all we can to help St Helens along with this game. Saints are in our division and it was myself who put them in touch with Danny Wilson at the club, who once again has come up trumps in terms of co-operation (this really is a different Manchester City these days!).

I also agree with you Scall that Alan Rowland's biography of Bert is superb. There is a feature on the Bert Trautmann Foundation at the back.

Talking of matters non-league. If you're twiddling your thumbs (or anything else!), why not..... .

No City game this Saturday. Why not get down to the true City of Manchester Derby!

Maine Road F.C. -South Manchester's Premier Club .

There's a couple of articles about Bert Trautmann in the latest e-Programme St. Helens Town publish following each home game - one about him recently accepting the position of St. Helens Town Club President.

We'd be grateful for any support for the Trautmann Trophy fixture with the City Legends team on Sunday 15 November.

Radio Manchester just given the Bert game a really good plug. Let us hope the City fans (i.e. those who are not in Dubai!) really do the Great Man proud on 15th Nov.

Even Maine Road v Abbey Hey got a brief mention!

C'mon Road!

I am from Blackpool and Frank Swift, who I saw play many times, was my first goal-keeping hero.
However, I think that Bert Trautman was the best keeper I have ever seen, even to this day. I saw him at Bloomfield Rd. once and Blackpool (a top team of the day) took City apart. Score Pool 0 City 1, all down to Trautmans tremendous ability.
