Bert's got a new autobiography out and apparently he's signing copies at Waterson's on Deansgate[tomorrow?]-----I've seen him play and he was THE best,though older dudes might say Frank Swift was.
However the point of this thread is that, having read 'The Observer' review of the book,it would seen Bert is a somewhat unrepentant Nazi. He was a paratrooper so obviously a hard geezer, but according to the review he thought National Socialism was the best thing since sliced Bratwurst. If this is true[and i will buy the book]----it's a bit myth destroying of the 'German gentleman' image and, sadly a hero of mine. Let's hope the Observer is talking a load of Bollocks1
