Best 12” Singles of all time

I think the most remixed band ever. Certainly one of the only ones, PSB included, who released every single on a 12" vinyl with remixes. And still do.
It got silly in the end . I think it was actually Depeche Mode and their unfettered release of 7" 12" 12 " pic disc 12" grey coloured disc etc etc....at one point I just said myself. .this is getting out of hand.im going to work to pay for the whim of some record producer.....I lost a lot of interest in record collecting in one moment of thought,it was an addiction which I couldn't continue to afford a long with going to City games home and away, like a robot.back in the late 80s.
I do miss trawling round northern record fairs, thru record collector magazine and back street grotty record shops...but I made the right choice.i think...

The only coloured DM singles were German release only. They did very few picture discs. You must be thinking of another band...

Not that I don't have every 7"/ 12" UK and German!! It's the only thing I properly collect...made worse by my insistence on collecting the white label/ promo versions as well! Think you were wise to get out when you did!

I'm sure there were grey marbled 12" releases...quite a few of them
But I may be wrong and you are an avid collector of DM
I take your point about pic discs..there weren't any from DM...
I'm getting old and the memory not so good ,lol

And yes..the white label promos, the USA bootleg live albums
(I brought soft Cells the art of Tearing apart us bootleg)
And then ...the acetates!!
It was never ending so I just stopped

Grey marbled indeed. But they were all released in Germany with the INT suffix rather than Mute. They followed the UK pattern though, 7", 12" extended, 12" remix meaning I've got at least six of every release!

Like I say it got out of hand.
Can u remember who their producer was at the time
Was it somebody Sherwood..Adrian maybe ?

Joy Division - Atmosphere
Donna Summer - I Feel Love
Depeche Mode - Just Can't Get Enough
New Order - True Faith
Had a whole set of Depeche Mode 12" singles and inexplicably sold them all years ago. A guy from Holland (the country, not the pie company) bought the lot and even said to me, "Why would you sell these.???"

That kind of happened to me. I'd amassed around 5000 singles at one point from the early 70's to the early 80's and had a few favourite bands so had to collect everything they did. When 12" singles came along it was clear that the industry started to exploit it by issuing various releases of the same thing, coloured vinyl and so on. Wine, women and football took over, and CDs, and my interest waned as I was more into singles and CD singles just weren't the same.

Yeah when cds came out it was the end for me. I found them annoying and compared to discs , completely soul less and unintresting
I've been told by 2nd hand dealers many a time the resell value of CDs is next to nothing " can't give them away " pretty much like a 2nd hand electric car nowadays
Nobody's interested.

And yet they are now going up in price. People are collecting them again. The same with cassettes.

I didn't realise the only grey marbled releases were in Germany. I bought Master & Servant in Cologne at the time. Remixes were indeed by Sherwood, including Are People People? :)
Tis a thing of beauty

Not only grey, other colours as well but they are all a German release with INT as their start code. Master and Servant, the Sherwood mix, is a lovely shade of red...
