Best acoustic guitar songs

but I really like this version too

Haven't checked the rest of the thread but if it's taken 18 pages for this to feature it's an outrage! This entire thread could/should be infested with Thompson songs. Btw - I think people really struggle to do decent covers of this song but that one really does something different and enjoyable with it .

Thompson has full on national treasure status as far as I'm concerned. Magical musician, here he is turning a pigs ear into a silk purse.

I can't disagree with anything that you've said there. This, and several other Richard Thompson songs, deserve to be on page one. Personally, as the originator of the thread, I've deliberately held back and only drip-fed my nominations. I do though love the way the thread has gone, and not just in the obvious directions.

Check the other 18 pages though- there are some crackers

Keep them coming....

Not a completely acoustic song but like so much of Wishbone Ash the acoustic is such a dominant and integral part of the whole experience.
Of course the double lead electrics define the band, but their delicate acoustics always stick in the mind.

Saw Wishbone Ash at a converted railway station (is it somewhere like Formby?) about 10 year ago.

My brother-in-law tried to get a picture with Andy somebody (the guy who looks a bit like Heisenberg) but asked him if he would also put on his jacket.

That seemed to be a red line for the aging rocker who moved away and refused the photo.

Piss funny and the brother-in-law is yet to live it down..............
