To be honest I haven't listened to much in the way of new music this year but I'd have to say 'The Defenestration of St. Martin' by Martin Rossiter was my personal favourite of 2012.

It's a brilliant, highly emotive and atmospheric debut solo album from the former Gene frontman and definitely worth a listen if you're into that kind of thing. I saw him live at The Deaf Institute a few weeks ago and he was absolutely superb.
