Best Article ever in Daily Mirror

2 supportive articles in 1 day from high profile national football journalists! What a turn up. Why has it taken until now for them realise what a sham FFP is? Why did they not speak up against it when it was being formulated and implemented? The only one to do that was Martin Samuels, and all credit to him for doing so.

its about time he wrote a balanced piece about our club. he spat his dummy out big time when we dispatched of hughes. his write ups made him sound like a jilted/petulant teenager. it was embarrassing. i think he was aligned to kia at the time who gave him his scoops. glad he appears to have moved on from this and can now look at bigger picture. he obviously been briefed. incidentally he supports stockport county.

He's stood on the terraces at maine road/anfield/old trafford/edgeley park "delete as applicable when it suits whatever shite I'm writing atm"

He supports County.

Holt's a decent bloke.

the first sentence is true, the second sentence is absolute bollocks

So what's caused this enormous u-turn in reporting?

Is it because of the blatant unfairness of the rumoured FFP sanctions and our journalists finally deciding to stick up for their own? Maybe. Or is it because of the marvellous job our PR department have done after years of slumber, finally springing into life in the last 48 hours? That would seem rather unlikely, I grant you.

Or is it because no-one likes to back the losing side. We were subject to the usual snide comments, jibes and criticism whilst the title was miles off and more recently whilst they had all convinced themselves that Liverpool were going to win it. Slagging City off was a safe bet. But now, with 5 days to go, they have suddenly thought, shit, City look like winning it. Better start writing nice things about them quick or I might look a prick next week.

Remember how we were everyone's darlings for 10 minutes after Agueeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrooooooooooo? Even wankers like Merson were saying nice things. Same thing.

As I said earlier we're the Premier League's best chance of a Champions League trophy for the next 5-10 years and all the journos know it, they may not like it but they fucking know it. UEFA talking about squad restrictions could potentially leave every CL trophy going to Spain and Germany for the next 10 years and they're shitting themselves at the prospect.
IMO anyway.

holt has just put his job in jeopardy , when the MGN owners see this, he will be summoned to the board room and reminded about his responsibilities and the agenda they have to perpetrate , he will be beaten with framed photos of shankly and busby until he promises to rescind this ridiculous piece of journalism .

Big match verdict: Manchester City dug deep to take giant step towards Premier League title - Oliver Holt

An echo from another era sounded around the Etihad on Wednesday night. Now and then, a bell rang out from the stands, just like it had once done at Maine Road.

In the 1960s, seventies and eighties, it was Helen Turner, a lady with a blonde beehive, who established it as one of City’s trademarks from her seat in the North Stand. Helen died a few years ago, before City could recreate some of the glory days she had witnessed.

But on Wednesday night, the familiar sound of the bell and the relieved cheers of the City fans brought memories of the club’s halcyon days rolling back.

They are in another golden era now. This nervy, scratchy victory over Aston Villa took them to the brink of a second league title in...
