an old friend who has been living in the states for 30years is coming over...
"absolutely gagging for some good old-fashioned proper fucking chips, mate".
i don't really frequent them so any suggestions would be most welcome.

Hills chippy in Middleton.

I always visit the Langley Friery on Wood Street when I come and visit my Dad. Living in North Yorkshire I have never had bad fish and chips at the seaside ( Whitby/Scarborough etc ) but the best I have ever had was at the chippy on Haltwhistle High Street opposite the WMC ( which I think burned down last year!! ) Used to get them when bringing daughter home from Uni in Carlisle on a Friday night.

Not local I know so the OP is probably best sticking to Wood Street lol

We like Wrights in the centre.

Only tried the cod but it's always been spot on.
been past there many a time.
it was the first one that sprang to mind when i received my friend's text.

i wonder, has anyone tried the chips in there?

I didn't make my post very clear, was walking and typing. I've had Fish, chips and peas (only cod not haddock)

We thought it was very good!
