Best European Weekend Football Trip

Echoing a lot of the ideas above.

Can also recommend SC Freiburg in the Black Forest, maybe double up with a trip to a game at Stuttgart or even Sochaux just across the French border, or Basel which is also nearby.

Another possible is Bruges or Brussels by Eurostar, great beer / culture and tickets very easy to obtain.

Barcelona is also great to visit not only for football but maybe you have a chance in Champions League this year
Dont know how to get tickets for the Primera Division matches other than here:

I'm having a look myself for a good trip this winter and had this in mind.

9th of December - Fly to Turin in the morning and watch JUVENTUS VS ATHLETICO MADRID
10th December - Train down to Rome in the morning and watch ROMA VS CITY
11th December - Train down to Naples to Watch NAPOLI vs BRATISLAVIA
12 December - Fly from Naples to Manchester!

What do you guys think? Have any of you been to Sao Paolo stadium or Juventus Stadium? Is it easy to get tickets on the day?

Great advice and lots to think about. Bottle of wine, fixture lists and ideas to work on. Lots of people sharing top tips. Thank YOU

Juventus Stadium it's relatively small, just 40k seats, plus it's often sold-out even for small domestic fixture, like the last one against Palermo. Not a chance you're getting the ticket for the CL's one, unless you join somehow Atletico's supporters.

For Napoli's match it should be relatively easy, I mean it's Europa League on working day and Napoli's fans aren't exactly gushing joy right now.

I guess it depends how important the quality of the football is.... Sparta Prague is a great atmosphere, costs hardly anything to get in, and beer is about 50p a pint in the ground. Then you also have the wonders of Prague to sample before and after the game.

Thanks. I hadn't thought about this one.

Looking for

Enjoyable football + atmosphere in a stadium worth visiting.
City worth a culture visit.
Food & Drink experience.
Ability to mingle with Locals
Value for Money

And from the results on here I'm not the only one who is trying to widen football experiences while avoiding the wider spread rip offs.

Prague would be a good one - they have 4 top division teams. Bohemians, Sparta, Slavia, and Dukla, so you should be able to get to more than one game if you plan ahead. It helps that its a nice city too and if you avoid the Irish bars then prices are fantastic. Plzen was about an hour away and Munich, Nuremburg, Dresden, Leipzig, and Berlin aren't a million miles away either.

Huge fan of Berlin & Germany in general. Ticks all the boxes on your list and plenty of options for cheap flights. Saw Hertha whilst over there for a friend's 40th recently - just such a different atmosphere from here, you actually feel welcome rather than being considered a potential troublemaker. Beer at your seat, loads of stuff to see and do, sorted.
