I was in the Platt Lane stand for this match, my first at Maine Road; Kidd scored our other goal.

I'd still have to go with Dzeko scoring against QPR however, for obvious reasons - I mean if you've got to disallow all the rest it's this one (of those I've seen) that has to be top.

Another of my favourites: City vs Arsenal in '77. The header by Royle is straightforward but the build-up was excellent:

Thanks Jimmy Rivers for the note re Andy Black and the Moss Nook pub the Tatton Arms. Glad it's still going. Robinson's ale in those days, as I recall.

I remember seeing Bobby Johnstone's header in the Cup Final on TV. He scored in 1956 too and became the first player to score in consecutive Wembley finals.

Bloody hell it's time I went back to the cardigan and the Horlicks.
