McCarthys for me,anyone remember diving header by Gordon Davies against Arsenal in lge cup, disallowed unfortunately
Ah I remember Bobby Johnstone's goal, it was the first City game i ever saw (on the 13" TV that someone in our street had just bought.) But after that I'll pick Ali Benarbia's diving header to put City 3-1 up late on in a match against Aston Villa one Boxing Day. He came on as sub when it was 1-1 and transformed the game. After his header hit the net he jumped up and leapt into the crowd behind the goal.moggymoz said:bluemoon27 said:silverback said:Bobby Johnstone diving header against Newcastle, 1955 F.A Cup final Wembley.

I know the one you mean but it was in the league on a Balmy night at the end of August.
The headed goal sent us top after previous wins against Coventry 1-0 and Liverpool 2-1 (still one of my favourite games). Also if memory serves me correct about a month later seventeen year old Michael Hughes missed that penalty seven mins into injury time condemning us to a 1-0 defeat to Everton when none of ghe senior players would step up.
Funnily enough quinnys looping header on the opening day was the best ive seen followed by a Gaudino header against pool?

Niall Quinn's last minute equaliser at Liverpool 1990.
Wanchope header against Newcastle at home around 2004 was also crucial. Kept us up in my opinion.
It's funny, but that's the first time I've seen that header since the actual game itself. In my mind I had always thought the game was against Norwich until about ten years ago when I discovered it was against Ipswich. Now I can see why I'd thought it was Norwich! That header was like a volley and I've always thought it was the hardest I've ever seen a ball headed. Great goal.lancs blue said:Dave Watson v Ipswich 1976/77
