He’s on about Eddie Van Halen’s Eruption. I know you said you couldn’t care less, but you aren’t seriously going to argue that track isn’t self indulgent are you? Incredible talent too of course.
 
All a matter of taste, it all goes to show.
If you are going off technical ability then I d go with Steve Vai although my heart probably lies elsewhere.

Just read that pal, and sorry to do so. As someone with a terminally ill parent myself, I wish him the very best.

(And though it’s largely irrelevant in comparison to our own loved ones, fwiw, I love the music of The Who and Van Halen also!)
