Best player ever in the Premier League?

Keano, robbo, giggsy, eric, scholesy, sharpey, hughesy , nevilley , Brucey, yorkey, coley, ole, Rooney, and loads of others
The issue with majority of the ex united players and players in general in the Prem in the 90s is that these players were in the most part best in the UK and the opposition was players from the UK. In the Premier league now, the peak players are best in the world, not just best in the UK.
All those players you listed are not fit to lace either of KDB, Silva or YaYa boots. I think that’s why as City fans we are truly blessed to see not only the best players in the league, but the best players in the world.

Agree with all that, but when you cut out all the shit, he’s still the best I’ve ever seen. Completely unplayable at his peak, he was ridiculously good, was honestly like watching kids football when you seen the gulf in ability with him and his opponents. I absolutely love Merlin and KDB but if you were playing as a central midfielder who would you prefer to pit yourself against. The only other midfielder who comes close was Vieira but even he was a few tiers below YAYA (peak)

From an entire career or a longevity perspective Merlin and KDB and many many others rank way above YaYa, but for absolute peak ability nobody compares. Of course it’s all just opinions but I’m just lucky I’ve been blessed to see all three
Yaya played for City for eight seasons, so his career with us wasn’t particularly short, though, of course not in the same league as Vinnie, Merlin and Sergio.

Henry always wins the polls on this, but Henry doesn't get half his chances withput. Patrick Viera dominating matches for the arse in those days Yaya was an all round beast also

so it's a toss up for me Viera/Yaya
Kev who is surpasing them both will ultimately be it though

Scholes is the great myth, lauded as the complete midfielder, when the **** couldn't tackle or disposess people, was shocking sittting deep as a DM or Regista and his goal return isn't that brilliant for an attacking midfielder, another gerrard, hyped up because of who they played for and a few special goals

If you were honestly putting an all time best 11 from the prem with traditional player positonsina 4-3-3 I expect it would go a bit like this.

GK -Schmeichel
RB - Walker
CB - Stones
CB - Adams
LB - Clichy
DM - Viera (pipping Rodri just)
RW - Ronaldo
B2BM - Yaya
AM - Kevin Debruyne
LW - Henry
FWD - Aguero

As great as Yaya was on his day there is no way he did consistently enough to be ranked ahead of Henry. Ronaldo was probably the best ever to play here but thankfully he gave his best years to Madrid. So probably only had 2 seasons as the best in the league by a mile.

Sadly at his best for only a short time, but I remember been totally wowed by Gazza when I saw him live against us. Incredible talent and energy, but too many demons.

Your right hardly anyone mentioning defenders or goalies for that matter always seems to be the creative midfielder or attacker forwards

Defending is completely different. Its more about how you defend as a unit with your teammates than being individually brilliant. No way is any center back close to being as good a footballer as KDB or Henry.

Scholes was a giant beneficiary of Ferguson's intimidation tactics. Pisses me off everytime he flies in studs up and walks away with just a yellow, sometimes not even a yellow. He'd have alot more reds and a more sour reputation had he been playing for any other side.
