I have never witnessed anything like that in football before, added to that it was my team and we did it to the Rags...stupendous!

In 2011-12 there were great games all season. From United 8 Arsenal 2, Blackburn 4 Arsenal 3, United 1 City 6 after they'd given us a "football lesson" just two months earlier, Spurs 1 City 5, Chelsea 3 Arsenal 5, United 2 Blackburn 3 on New Year's Eve, United 4 Everton 4, relegation decides going to the final minutes and CL places decided on the final day too...then our run-in that saw us eight points behind our biggest rivals and them singing "Championes" at Blackburn seeing us win six on the trot including beating them at home with three games to go and the "Blue Moon"/"Hey Jude"/"Wonderwall" at the final whistle. And Agüerooooooooooooo!

That was and probably always will be the greatest season in any league in football history.

yes. If it manages to beat that one I don't imagine my heart will have survived it.

-- Mon May 05, 2014 8:45 am --

And this made it even more special.

Not nearly as good as our title winning season. The 3rd 4th CL place, most (if not all) of the relegation places and the title itself went down to the last day. This year, it will probably only be the title up for grabs on the final day

Yup. A lot has been made of having 3 genuine title contenders this season but that hasn't necessarily made it more exciting. 11/12, partly because it was us against the rags and partly because we still weren't really considered contenders at the start of the season, the way we shot out of the blocks, the 6-1 when the rags were still largely expected to win, the mid season crumble, Arsenal away, 8 points behind, Everton, the rags at home (still one of our best 90 minute performances of this side as we know it), QPR..

No, sorry, not even close. It will likely go to the last day but win or lose the drama (apart from the dipper driven kind should they win) won't compare.

One of the greatest ever moments in football, for sure. Half the world pumped their fists for Aguero. It's all about perspective though. For many Arsenal fans, sealing the title with the last kick of the ball on the last day of the season to snatch it away from Liverpool in 1989 is probably more memorable.

Is that why the thread title relates to the Premier League?

An Australian mate of mine in Sydney - certainly not a City follower - texted me after the Aguero moment (must have been about 4am there!) saying that it was the most amazing sporting moment he'd ever seen in, let alone football or the Premier League. So I'll go with his view.
