Best pubs you have frequented.

Jolly Angler on Ducie Street. What a place.

Me and my mates have spent many a happy hour in the Malt Shovels in Alty too, mainly due to the price. The Old Market is another decent boozer in Alty. The Railway in Sale is great, but it's always dead when I go in

Old Market the best real ale pub in Alty/Sale area by a long chalk, also some decent covers bands in there on weekends. The Railway in Hale Village a lovely boozer in that area too. Alty town centre gone completely downhill last 15 years though and a lot of the old pubs with it.

The best pub in town is the Briton's Protection. I used to go to the Circus and the Grey Horse which were both good. Also like the Castle, Fringe, Lass O Gowrie, City Arms and Vine Inn. In fact there's loads of decent pubs in town.

Locally in Didsbury The Railway on Lapwing Lane is OK, much better and cheaper than the Metropolitan. Obviously the Nelson and the Royal Oak (both blue). I also like the Friendship in Fallowfield and the Albert in Withington has a certain charm.

Jesus I remember when that place was the old Unicorn (Old Market Place) was good early 90's as was the Axe and Cleaver/Stamfords/Pig and Porcupine back in the day. The Station, Faulkners and Grapes were ideal for underage drinking but lacked jack n danny, so it was a godsend when the Old Mill and Pig got a younger clientele.

The Vale Cottage. It's like a country pub, but in the middle of Gorton. The landlord's a Blue, but the pub doesn't show matches, the only downside. Does Timothy Taylors.

I'm in The City Arms on a very regular basis, easily the best pub in town.

Favorite pubs in town include the Port Street Beer House, Knott, Cask, Fringe, Britons plus far too many more.

Corbiere's is well good... Love having a few beers in there.

Also theres a bar maid who works there who I well fancy. I should go more actually.

I take it you mean Sarah with the red hair? I like it in Corbs but people saying the beer is good must be drinking something different to me, that's the worst thing about it. Still drink in there every Friday lunchtime.

Pubs I like in town:

Britons Protection
Knott Bar
The Vine
The Northern
The Crown & Kettle
The Rising Sun

I also quite like the Gas Lamp but it is a bit pricey. As is the Mark Addy but if you get a spot outside there on a hot day you're set.

Other pubs round an about that I like

The Railway in West Didsbury
The Nelson in Didsbury
The George & Dragon in Heaton Chapel

The Golden Hind on Marple Road, Offerton.

Really? I've not been in for years, was a right shithole last time I did.

Couple of mates still do the all day Sunday thing in there tho.

It was closed down for, er what did they call it, decoration, not too long ago. Enforced decorating by the police so to speak

Tonnes used to sell a cracking pint, good? Chilli burger in the commercial was also a favourite

Beer, clientele & food all good - that's why it's a pity they are struggling nowadays.
But when you can buy a case of ale for less than a tenner in any supermarket and your local charges £3 a pint, you can see why.
Used to love livening in the grove bought my first house there when I was 18 with a mate of mine, roseberry street, next to the new sainsburrys about 10 years ago;)

Now that is spooky mate and you should know it's spelt Rosebery (-;

Funnily enough, the "Penny Black" in Cheetham Hill, was a great pub (if you knew 80% of the locals) but, not so good if your face was new.
They had a certain suspicion of "not locals".

I used to live on rosebery street and always went down to the cock or the phoenix… I stay in Macclesfield now I am always go into the Millstone or barnfield, millstone is a decent pub but it’s expensive

in town, apotheca in the northern quarter and kings arms near salford central station, both unique with a great vibe. the bridge inn stalybridge and hunters stalybridge are both top boozers depending on your state!

A couple of Americans are making the trip to England for New Year's. We're going to be in London when Man City plays at Norwich, any suggestions for a good pub to watch the game?

We'll be in Manchester on New Year's Eve, any favorite ways to bring in the new year up there?

Mother Macs, Back Piccadilly. Bring your own insect repellent.

Hampo's in Eccles was class. Stained glass windows with local sporting heroes such as Colin Bell and George Best, the walls full or football memorabilia, cheap beer, food on saturday mornings, every single female member of staff as fit as fuck, payments of pints for favours such as taking the bottle bin to be emptied for them or nipping to the kebab shop for them. I was truly gutted when it closed down.
