When my kids were small (3 to 8 years) I often felt like Matthew Kelly talking to Sweep.
Every time they said something vaguely entertaining (which is a frequent occurrence with young children) I felt this need to repeat it out loud before answering them.
Of course the more outlandish their remarks, the more fun I could have adding a bit of 'helpful' opinion of my own in my response.

Guess only time will tell if it was helpful for them or scarred them for life.
