it´s more private sponsoring. Most of them refuse money from the clubs

why would they refuse my from the clubs... ?

it is mostly done by Ultras. And they produce their own merchandising and are often proud to be independent from the club (as far as possible)

This vid shows how a choreo was done at Schalke, that should remind people of the north stand of the former ground (Parkstadion), that is now in ruins

Total costs: 13,683 Euros (without support by the club or companies, just private donations)

As Ruhr said most Ultra groups like to stay independant from the club, so accepting money from them is not an option.

Same with sponsored flags for example...

Money is collected by selling Merchandise, CDs, organising Partys or bus/train trips.

There are often people from the various groups collecting donations at matchdays as well.

Other than that the majority of the material/flags/banners used is handmade and not bought from a company.

Its obviously ten times cheaper that way and working together on a Choreo is some sort of social event for the group as well (if a choreo works out great the feeling of pride is obviously a bit bigger as well if everything is handmade).

Don´t forget that Ultra is not just a matchday thing..its much more than that...a lifestyle basically and it gives the young folks something to do as well, other than hanging around on the street, selling drugs etc. Most of the groups have their own rooms/pubs and people gather there during the evenings as well to talk, listen to music and just have a good time.

-- Fri May 03, 2013 5:03 pm --

@Ruhr: Thats one of my favourite choreos from a club ever. It doesnt look super fancy, but the level of detail and the message is what stands out.

Love how they even added the old FC banners that you could see in the Parkstadion. :)

yes, and the beloved 3.30 kick-off time on saturday on the stadium clock :)

Having flags or choreo sponsored by club or companies not run by fans is total lame.
If you do that you just a laughing stock and nobody in ultras circles will respect you.
All money comes from fans donations (sometimes, for big choreo it takes 2 or 3 games to collect enough money) and from merchandising (run by fans).
Bambeltown mentioned ultra is not only stadium activity but lifestyle. He`s absolutely right. Charity is very popular (hospices, homeless hostels and even animal shelters) and also many groups in Poland regularly donate blood (not long ago, after two Lechia Gdansk fans died in bus crash- and many were injured- there was so much volunteers around the country they had to close stations at some point).
There are things that most of the people never read about in mainstream media of course. That won`t sell as good as fights etc.

This is photo topic, so one for the end:

I thought Napoli were pretty average . Sporting Lisbon were really good IMO .

The worst for noise to numbers ratio were Real Madrid . They were fookin awful !

For me it has to be the Aris Super 3!

Unlike what I hear from Eastern European fans they sing in tune, unlike German fans they sing soulful songs that aren't cheesy as fuck. They're like a gigantic professional choir.

Agree they were top nights at the Eithad.
With the Aris fans my ears were ringing as if i'd been on the Amnesia dancefloor all night, and I was still feeling the beat and the tunes of their songs all night after the game. Never known anything like it.

:D
not european ultras, but this is such a catchy chant/song. I love how all ultras have such a wide range of songs, rather than in the prem where most teams sing each otheres songs.
