Was at the Eccles supporters club meeting on Monday signing his book, seems a good guy and got a laugh out of everyone when he said he hates Rag fans!

He was great at the Eccles meeting, I bought his book and am 3/4 of the way through it. He pulls no punches, takes no prisoners and it is an excellent read.

he's at the Dukinfield branch tomorrow night

As a blue of course I love Andy and the magnificent way he dragged us out of the shit.

But, just to play devil's advocate, reading some of the stuff that he admits to doing in his book, if a brother or a friend of yours had been subjected to one of Andy's brutal drunken assaults, would his claims of depression have given you reason to forgive him ?

He was there last night and he really did come across as a top bloke.
He was very open and honest about everything and was also very funny.

Top Man and Top Blue.

He'll be our interviewee on tonight's show (and there's an extended version of the interview also available), talking about his time with City, but also his off the field problems and how he overcame them.

Very interesting listen, even if we do say so ourselves!

Saw Andy in the Trafford Centre a few weeks back he was not trying to make eye contact with anyone. ie he wasn't just glancing around like we all do when we're out. I didn't approach him because he was having something to eat with his family
I hope he gets better very soon. When anyone has Depression their family suffer too.
If I see him out and about again i hope i get to say hello.

Top bloke and blue legend but it's become very fashionable to suffer from depression recently hasn't it.

Cue pages of abuse from outraged namby pambys !!!!!

Did you read the article ?? You clearly are just very narrow minded or looking for an argument

On topic, a true warrior on the pitch for us, really dragged us up by the scruff of the neck.

There's nothing 'new' or 'fashionable' about Depression. It's just that an earlier generation kept quiet about such things and soldiered on, because they knew that any admission of mental illness could lead to them being bunged in an Asylum and quite possibly kept in there for life. There was also a huge social stigma against any kind of mental illness - people were afraid of it, and to a large extent still are.

What damage was done to society and individuals by non-acknowledged depressives 'soldiering on' we shall never know. But it's hardly likely to have boosted Britain's productivity or general health.

Many depressives end up topping themselves. Yes, we all get 'down' at times, but comparing that to clinical depression is like comparing a minor cold to pneumonia. That is to say, there is no comparison at all. And at least with pneumonia there are proven and certain cures that work for everyone. For depression this is not true.

Don't let anyone tell you it's not. Go to this website which has a search engine for International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems and look up 'depression'. I have my daily work in mental health care here in Norway and I think it's good to see famous people admitting to having problems. It helps so much in 'normalizing' the condition for all the other people who suffers from it. Keep it up Andy.

My all time favourite City player. There are far more obvious choices of course, but he's mine. I love what he brought to us as a club when we needed it the most, leadership, drive, passion. Love the fella.

Although many others have played their part, I believe this pic should be a constant reminder to us all that we might not be where we are now without Andy.
