I'm not asking that you change your opinion on him or that that game proves he is good or awful. But was that game an acceptable standard for the young lad from Ecuador? He showed some nice touches and linked up play well, he also got himself a goal (Albeit a tap-in) and was dangerous at times. Personally I don't think you will get much better than that from a lone striker unless we are talking absolute world class strikers (Torres, Drogba, Henry).

So I ask, was that a good performance in your eyes?

14 starts = 8 goals ...............
i for one hope he stays . because he could be a handfull when he matures.
people forget he is only 20..........

For me, yes. But I rate Big Phil. There's nothing to hate. He works, chases, and wins a good number of high balls. Considering the game we play he has a nice touch, pity he hasn't got that extra yard of pace or he would be touching the next class up. Good squad player, AND he grabbed three points off Megson's BootTheBall Wallahs.

You forgot to add he almost created a goal aswell. He squared it to Shaun but he didn't continue his run to meet it and that would have put the icing on the cake really. He's scored his fair share to and even those that do not rate him would have to acknowledge that. I think he may have a chance of staying at the club as a reward for his goalscoring exploits personally and I wouldn't begrudge him it on any level. Whether he'll be a first team regular like he is now I have no idea, that depends on who we bring in, but I wouldn't be against it if that was Hughes thinking aswell.

The lad is doing well. Defo keep him.. Not good enough (yet) to play the lone striker away from home though.

I do feel the need to remind all that wheelsy said on here that he would never score a goal in a city shirt

I personally dont think he is a great player at the mo but he has got time on his side and will improve. However anyone who sticks them away will do for me

He has improved for sure, but he's never going to be good enough to take us into the top 4 and beyond. I can see him ending up at a mid-table premiership team cause thats about the level he is.

But if we're that's all we are right now PoolHustler. We're not even classed as a high mid-table team!

Don't dislike the lad he is still young and raw. for me do what they do on Europe pack him off on loan for a year or two then bring him back and hopefully we will have a serious talent on our hands. He goes from looking deadly turning defenders inside out to looking like he has lead weights in his boots within a few minutes.

If he has scored 8 goals in 14 games at mid-table level despite being 20 in a new league, surely he could better that a bit? I think he could be a good 3rd/4th striker for a top 4 club or a starter for a top 6 club at his peak.
