Big problem with our team

guys it became apparent today we have no holding midfielder.We played 2 defensive midfielders in Barry and De Jong.Neither can hold the ball for any period of time.

Ireland is an attacking mf in the gerrard role...he isnt Lampard or Scott parker for example.


This is why teams constantly have more possession than us.

FFS I'm just so angry at our stupid tactics (and the cheating scum).
We continually hoofed it upfield and bypassed our midfield.
And it just kept coming right back at us.
When we played the ball we were OK, even with Ireland, Barry and De Jong.

Worst post ever? Lol how's MIchael Johnson gonna solve the problem, he isn't a holding midfielder. Nige and Vinnie are quality holding midfielders and so is barry if we choose to play him there (as Mr Capello does for England)

sorry maybe my post wasnt clear...we need Johnson who can get in and get the ball,tackle,then hold the ball and spread it around,a mix of everything we have in De Jong,barry and Ireland.


Its really shown against arsenal and the scum that we dont hold onto the ball,so a decent team will get a lot of pops at our defense.

Michael Johnson could slow it down where needed.So could Joey back in his day.Ireland,much as I love him is too many 1 touch and go and this often results in giving the ball away in mf.


Ireland has his strengths,as do Barry and De Jong,but with a fully fit squad for me its Johnno and one of Barry/Nige and Ireland ahead of them as our trio.

If Johnno cant do it we need to buy someone.
