Find it hard to hate any player who plays in our shirt. Even Andy Cole and Schmeical I warmed to despite them being rag legends.
The players I find myself disliking are those a lot of city fans adore purely for their attitude and not their actual footballing abilities such as Dickov Tiatto and Horlock. Now I didn't mind the players. They gave their all. I like that. Just don't like them being held up as legends for what they did in division 2. Let's face it someone like David Nugent could have scored shed loads in that division and some would hold him up as a legend for starting the road to winning the premier league. I have no doubt when we win the champions league someone will attribute some if it to the Dickov play off goal.
So that leads me on to De Jong. Served us well without a shadow. Nothing against him but found myself disliking him purely because some fans blamed us selling him as a major reason for us not retaining the league. He played something like 12 games in the league winning year.
So it's not the players I hate it's the false esteem some are held in. Whereas good quality players who are far better than those mentioned but who do have their faults as all players do would be sold if some fans had their choice. Say Edin for example. Scored more important goals than anyone I can immediately think off. Bit of a boo boy though as he doesn't chase down a ball that's clearly going for a goal kick but sliding in as it crosses the goal line, maybe one time out of ten putting it for a throw in instead of a goal kick ala Dickov. Kolorov is another one. Tops the league for assists for a defender and is one forth of one of the most solid if not the most solid defence year after year. But many would replace him given half a chance.
