The management of our public face is by far our biggest mistake which will have a detrimental effect for years. Within "Publlc Face " I inclùde P.R., Public issues management, the official web site, City TV.
Public Issues and PR:
Not just here but around the world, the press still dub us a state owned club with a bottomless pit of money. We should pull them up over it every time. Not doing so has allowed the Grubby little conspiracy of the G14/16 to gain traction. We paid an FFP fine for something we didn't do and the saga of the second attempt drags on. So many fans, press, clubs etc believe this lie. NY City still have no stadium, partly due to this bad publicity. The use of "Arab oil money" and other substitutes for the racist "filthy arab" is enabled by it.
British pressers open with questions like "Does City's budget render the prem uncompetitive?" etc etc.
Official web site:
Young ppl around the world access news and info mainly via the web. And what do we do? Produce a site which would be a disgrace to your local pub. How can you hope to build a world class brand with this tripe? I am told that the hierarchy show little interest in our digital profile. Include a digital TV
site which is technically disastrous. We get lots of clicks on utube, twitter and the like, but how many more would there be with a comprehensively excellent offering across all digital media. How much more income from shirt sales and other items?
Most on here could add many more examples, but you get my drift. This failure reflects the brand so badly. If you don't like the idea of City as a brand, I understand, but it is the way of the world now. Commercial deals, and their value depend so much on our brand perception.
So, it is our failure to look after our good name that, I believe, is our greatest failure, along with the signing of Bony, of course!
