Just got back had a few but my take on it is life is like a tree and you go a certain way,you make a choice and once done it is hard or impossible to get back to where you or should be.
My advice is trust your heart and that voice inside you and do what it is saying to you.
It knows best.

But a tree is static. So you’re saying if you go off down a certain road it’s hard to go back to your roots or to the tree. Fair do’s . But if you do go down that road you have to make sure your heart is with you or else you’re fucked.

Yes mate.As you go down the new branch it increasingly hard to go back unless you are very brave.

Can relate to the marriage theme, which is pretty prominent on this thread.

A very fairytale coupling, having got together later in life having dated as teens. It was magical. For various reasons it just turned into a fucking nightmare as soon as honeymoon was over. Divorced within 4 years.

Bumped into her just before lockdown. Had a chat and pretty much both acknowledged we fucked it up good. To this day though I question how something so perfect ended up another sad statistic. Both moved on now and happily coupled up with our partners.

Happens for a reason I guess.

Really pleased for you mate and long may it continue, I genuinely remember those times back then, those conversations we had when you were trying to piece things together again, pretty much your life in some respects, the sadness behind the laughs etc, I knew you’d turn it around though ;-).

Thanks pal. It was a horrible time and losing her was the denouement of a horrible few years which included losing the business, the house and going bankrupt. It was definitely the thing that hit the hardest though, and took me about six years to substantially get over, I reckon.

Looking back, I’m actually glad I went through those things as it means I appreciate what I have now every day. I realise how lucky I am (and luck definitely plays a part) to have come through all that and have the life I do today. Think there are lots of good people who don’t emerge from catastrophic events in their life through no fault of their own. Those events also always give me a sense of perspective when things go wrong now with work, in relationships or with City. And they’ve definitely made me stronger and (even) more self confident.
