In essence he was spot on with everything he said.

I don't know. There's always the guy who thinks he can fly so jumps off a skyscraper!

The finest comic genius of a generation, in my opinion, and you'll be hard pressed to move me from that. Intelligent, incisive, aggressive, and forthright. And yet, very funny.

He set out as a stand up comedian, and wound up somewhere between a preacher, a rock star and a poet. RIP.

And the fact that most of the posters who have come on here stating how unfunny he is are themselves amongst some of the least humourous individuals I have ever encountered just confirms my opinion.

I thought he was an overrated gas bag and pride myself on my sense of humour, how very dare you. He ranted and raved way too much, very hard to pick the humour from his rumblings and preachings.

Now Billy Connolly - a true comedic genius, he has/had the ability to make absolutely anything funny.

IMO Connolly was once genuinely original and funny,but then became almost a parody of himself who spent more time on stage laughing at his own jokes than entertaining the audience.
I think he lost it when he got with Pamela Stephenson.
Comedians are funnier when their lives are a mess - domestic bliss is seemingly the death knoll of creativity and angst.

I haven't seen any new stuff from him for quite a while but his older stuff can be watched time and again. It never seems to get old
