Birmingham City Thread - 2023/24

Birmingham City fan here, just having a look to see how you are fairing with recent form and came across this thread on my own team. Regarding American ownership, we are definitely happy at Birmingham, obviously with the exception of Rooney, which is a mistake that has been learned from early, thank God! Americans have definitely made the experience 100 times better at Birmingham City. They understand how to give you a better experience. And make you want to put your money in your pocket. Gary Cook, for all his faults, is a good CEO, and is determined to finish his excellent career, bringing his own club up to a high standard. This city has potential, the location of the new stadium is perfect for not just football, but big stadium events, and we will reap the benefits of that.

So overall, I am happy.

Whereabouts is the proposed new Stadium in relation to St Andrews?

Best of luck in your quest to get back to the PL btw, I've watched a couple of YouTube vlogs, is it Davo on his away coach trips to Lincoln & Mansfield etc? Looks like a few old Zulu's on it, but an excellent soundtrack with 70/80's tunes coming through the coach speakers.

It’s over the road. The road behind the Main Stand (old side one) called Garrison Lane, one entrance will be there. We won’t even have to change the pubs we use. HS2 will drop 5 mins away from Manchester so less of a travel for you lot.

They’ve spent £30mil on the current stadium as it is.

Will be watching on New Year’s Day as City are not playing.

Should be a good game with the two best forwards in the division playing on either side, in Barry and Stansfield.

Villa have recalled Barry. Think he’s going to Boro.

Let's hope the American owners keep right on to the end of the road. A lot of (Manchester) City fans have very fond memories of Gary Cook and we wish him all the best. I still enjoy remembering your league cup win a few years ago and still think the football authorities deserve a rocket up their Arsenals for allowing that dreadful money launderer virtually to ruin the club. Best of luck from a fan of one Blues to another Blue.

Was thinking about Brum earlier..i bet its a bit more enjoyable being top of a lower division than circling the drain in the championship? A bit like my home town team Bolton (Albeit not near the top this year).
Something Everton would benefit from too. Get a winning feeling back.

More pissed off E&Young allowed the last lot of Chinese chancers to take us over. Yes mate, we are, like you, (were), the ‘smaller’ less fancied team in our city. You’ve flipped that! Hopefully we can too. I do some work for Villa as I’m in the chauffeur game. Many to the US guys they’ve had over have said we are in the era of the ‘super stadium’, and it has to pay you 300 days per year if your not a top side already. We will have a 62k stadium an approx an hour from most of the UK (Cooks words).

Villa will get left behind in revenue eventually. On revenue, Cook says we are only behind the teams with parachutes now.

It is mate. Rather be competitive that a whipping boy side. We can’t get used to the expectations of winning to be honest. 75% possession is alien to us.

Beating Arsenal in 2011 was the best day of my life. They had beaten prime Barca 2 games before and we didn’t think we had a chance. We broke the decibel record that day, but we also got Ogaden Martins and Zigic injured in that game which fecked us! Zigic insanity hero. He never let us down when it mattered even down to last day relegation scraps vs Bolton as it happens.
