Birmingham City Thread - 2023/24

Birmingham since Manchester United legend, Wayne Rooney, took charge:

Southampton 3-1 Birmingham
Birmingham 0-2 Hull
Middlesbrough 1-0 Birmingham

The earlier this guy gives up and join Gary Neville in pundits crew, the better.

At 38 years old, he has relegated 4 teams already

Great players rarely make great managers.

People are claiming Bobby Charlton was the greatest player England has ever produced. A tad of an exaggeration, I think. But Charlton's managerial career was short and notably unsuccessful.

Great managers seem to have an 'X factor'. They were often average players at best.
Yep, the list of great players who failed in Management is long. Even our Bert didn't hack it as a Manager. Good coach, but not a Manager. It's a special skill, and not even the greatest goalie that ever graced this earth had it.

Most managers fail in the game. If you last 18 months to 3 years it's a miracle, I doubt he'll last 6 months.

Rooney doesn't strike me as a manager, I reckon he'd be an excellent striking coach or even in a youth setup system helping out, but to manage a squad of 25 players? I wouldn't trust him to look after a nursing home

He would make a better manager at kfc that way the fat fuck could get even fatter, manager my arse.

Hope they get relegated. They would deserve it for sacking a manager that had them in a decent position for an absolute failure of a manager just because he's a famous name.

Completely irresponsible way to run a club really. I'd be fuming if I was a fan of theirs.

They could quite easily go down too, even though they're quite clear of the relegation zone as it stands. Still about 32 games to go and the championship is very competitive abd unforgiving for poor form, there's so many games that teams can fly up and down the league within weeks. You can go from bottom half to near the playoffs quite quickly, or mid table to near the bottom 3 just as quick.

Not really a league to be pissing about in and getting rid of decent enough managers just because you want a star name that is a poor manager.

The earlier this guy replaces Ten Haag the better.

Said he wanted to change the mentality of the club.
Fair play he's done that in 3 games.
Fans and players were dreaming of the playoffs but not now. No sireeeeee.
They're back to looking over their shoulder at relegation!!!!!!!!!
