if you get train don't get a return from piccadilly to new street as it costs nearly £30, you can knock a third off the fare if you get a day return from manchester to stoke and a day return from stoke to birmingham, it will come in around £21 and you dont have to change trains either as the majority of trains from Piccadilly to New Street call off at Stoke. You can get these tickets on the day but buy before you board.

cheers for that mate.did'nt know that it worked out cheaper doing it that way.just checked and you are 100% right.just saved me a tenner!

happens with a lot of fares mate, always try splitting the tickets up, used to save loads all time going to north east games, try splitting ticket up at york or leeds for sunderland away and it will also work out cheaper

Booked £20.60 and was quoted £35 direct.
cheers for the info
