I visited a customer (a rag) just after Blackburn had beaten us in the FA Cup quarter final, y'know the one where we were under Stuart Pearce's management and we whimpered out.
Anyway, Benny McCarthy scored for Blackburn and when I was chatting about football and the quarter final in particular, my customer said "Yeah, that McCarthy's a good player. In fact I'd like to see him playing for us"
It was just the way he said it, it was so smug and he didn't even realise what he sounded like. It was as if the rags had the God given right to buy anyone
