I must be mistaken here, are we talking about rhythm and blues or R Kelly paedo songs?

Regardless of what he does in his private time R.Kelly is the reigning king of rhythm and blues. Why are there so many music snobs in this thread music adapts all the time RnB started with church like anthems to the temptations to R.Kelly to Usher to now Chris Brown.

Just because you prefered the older stuff does not mean the new music is a complete different genre. Also Elvis was pedophile he was dating a 13 year old openly. Funny how that is rarely mentioned.

What is known as RnB now has got absolutely nothing to do with the Rhythm and Blues music of the '50s and '60s. R Kelly, Usher and Chris Brown to me are the same as Beyonce, Britney Spears or Rhianna. Pop nonsense. I'm not sure what you mean with the Elvis comment, but his music was definitely closer to Rhythm and Blues than R Kelly's. And he was definitely a paedo as well.

too many youngsters on here are fuckin clueless about r n b. Makes me piss myself laughing when I listen to modern shit. has no one told them that you dont sing with your fingers and have to wear joke jewellery. and as for the poster who mentioned get with the times, music is timeless, if its good, and modern r n b is is just a passing fad that in 20 years time will deep in the bastions of obsurity pop music where it belongs, with the nolans.

Because you do not like them you only expose yourself for their most commercial made for radio tracks you cannot avoid. All those artists are definately Rythm and Blues but they do make certain pop songs to grab that audience.

In their time songs like "Its raining men" and "twist and shout " were considered selling out too.

I remember a few years ago I went to Ibiza with a coupe of mates. One was a black doorman who's still one of my closest friends to this day ("some of my best friends are black" ;-)). The other guy I fell out with because he is a ****.

We went to DC10 on the Monday (where the music as about as soulless and electronic as you can get) and I swear he was the only black guy in there. He didn't really "get" the music to say the least.

Oh how we laughed.

Again people trying to pass their opinions as fact without knowing anything about other posters. I grew up in a home where music is a major thing like in most black homes my parents loved all the Rythm and Blues classics and these were playing in our house daily. If not at home at parties, weddings in the car. But what do I know because I dont include what you like I am "clueless".

Ironic you mention that as "Vibe" by R.Kelly was released over 20 years ago yet is still playing in clubs and at parties today. Still a crowd pleaser, its pointless arguing about personal taste. For example Adele to me is horrible and her music is watered down black music packaged for middleclass people. But she sells millions so who am I to judge what others like?

I'm not sure why you are taking this personally didactic, you can listen to what you like. But all this RnB stuff is thought up by some producer and given to a good looking bloke or bird to sing. It's as generic as the rest of the pop music out there and is just a way of making money out of kids. If you go to Sony or whoever and ask them who the target audience is for Chris Brown, believe me it isn't you. It's 15 year old girls.
