as we've seen and heard this week about martin olsson and his dive along with his 'critiscism' of mike dean, i was just wondering, is this not bringing the game into disrepute??
I remember when adebayor did his celebration against arsenal he was punished with something similar?? But i was wondering whats the ruling (if any) on what olsson has said/done??

Allardyce clearly gives his players all the stats and info on referees and so on. Fat Sam should be held responsible for it.

It is yet another example of conning the ref. You can't really blame the ref (Jeez, can't think I even thought that last clause, let alone written it!) but if the FA are serious about getting rid of simulation, they only need to look at stuff which the ref has mistakenly given by stint of being duped, they should charge the player. But the lawyers will be in arguing black's white, and the FA are as stuffed for cash as MANUre, so they only tackle the cast iron cases. Some of the 'trips' are laughable and bloody annoying, particularly when there is not the slightest contact.

I would ask the player a few simple questions: How did you manage to fall over when no physical force came into contact with you? Just look at this snippet of video, Christiano, and tell us how you succumbed to the forces of gravity on this occasion?

I would also make it seriously unworthwhile for the unscrupulous and unprincipled to even think about launching themselves downwards once inside the penalty area.

I also think it is the one thing I would not condone were City on the receiving end.

Olsson should be charged with bringing the game into disrepute, as should any player who dives (yes, even ours!). It's cheating, pure and simple. It's one of my pet hates, along with spitting at an opponent, the increased use of the elbow and the brandishing of imaginary cards by players.

Olsson should be charged with bringing the game into disrepute, as should any player who dives (yes, even ours!). It's cheating, pure and simple. It's one of my pet hates, along with spitting at an opponent, the increased use of the elbow and the brandishing of imaginary cards by players.

He should be, but won't be, because I'm afraid the game and it's officials are bent. There is no other explanation for some of the things we have seen this season.

As Prestwich Blue alluded to yesterday, there are plenty of suspicions that EPL Select Referees are on the make. As he said on the FA Corruption thread yesterday:

There is a guy called Jerry Bullivant who devotes a lot of time to try to expose corruption in the game. He monitors betting markets and notes suspicious movements as well as watching the activities of agents. He revealed that a certain manager of a London team (have one guess) owns (through a front) hundreds of properties in and around London. He also revealed that a well-knwon local Scottish manager apparently has £20m stashed with Goldman Sachs.

He's also revealed which refs dance to Sky's tune and which take money off Far Easter bookies. He actually sold a dossier to the FA recently revelaing a trail of corruption which was supposedly acted on. Now it may be coinidental that, since then, Rob Styles took early retirement & Mike Riley was "kicked upstairs" to take over from Keith Hackett but it may not. (end)

Fully concur. However the FA have been given an opportunity again to make an example and they've 'bottled it' (tm G.Cook) but don't twirl your shirt around your head or you'll feel their full wrath!
