^More good work from Jumanji.
We started very slowly, but that's not always a bad thing on such a warm day. We did seem a bit subdued. I couldn't say if that was pressure, negativity, embarrasment. A few heads were shaken. Silva and Milner were very careless, Kolarov wildly inaccurate, AJ pretty desperate.
Despite all that, it was a very decent first half performance.
We controlled the pitch, shutting them out totally, but still made three or four decent chances. Classic 1st half Mancini performance.
There were determined efforts to win the ball back from just about every individual. It felt like this individual effort blossomed into the nice football we saw in the second half.
We pushed up on the left, got in the area between the fullback and centre half, sprayed it about beautifully from the halfway line.
I think the removal of Aguero worked very much in our favour.
Balotelli was playing something akin to false nine, suddenly their centre halves had no one to mark. Balotelli, Silva, Milner Nasri were buzzing in around the midfielders, who backed off and let us pass it around in front of them, worried about what was happening behind. I was going to say something very profound about their right side, but it escapes me now.
It has to be said, they were pretty horrible from start to finish. I knew we would win from about the 5th minute, when I saw they'd decided not to pressure Yaya. He had endless time and space to spray it around.
Overall an easy game, a decent, controlled performance, three beautiful goals and a clean sheet.
