Blackpool fan dies after trouble at Burnley match

I knew two people in quite a short space of time, who were in one punch incidents, where they both died after cracking their head on the curb. Both in their 20's with their lives ahead of them.

Two grieving families were left from the people who passed away and two people ended up in prison with quite hefty sentences.
Very sad, they ran an advertising campaign in pubs a few years back warning of the dangers and devastation these incidents can cause. Big powerful guy punches smaller bloke, horrendous but not surprising.

There was a documentary on ITV a few years ago called ‘One Punch Killers.’ Or something very similar.

It wasn’t an easy watch but it brought home just how easily not only can a man be left dead but two families lives can be changed forever, in the matter of seconds.

The one case that sticks in my mind is a kid who repeatedly tried to walk away from a situation but the guy kept coming at him. And eventually he gave him one crack and that was that. The dead guy’s family went from hating him to understanding his actions and by the time the case came to court they were pleading for leniency on his behalf.

If we’re been honest I doubt there’s very few of us could say there’s no way it couldn’t have been us in that situation at some point in our lives but for pure luck and circumstance.
