That photo of Dave Mackay about to throttle Bremner is magnificent and says it all about both of them. Mackay the boss and Bremner the little upstart cheeky ****. This was just after his return to football after being out with a broken bone in his left leg - after trying to make a comeback, he broke it again in his return match, and missed 18 months of football altogether. From Wiki:-

In 1966 Mackay was photographed by Daily Mirror photographer Monte Fresco in an on-pitch confrontation with Leeds United's Billy Bremner. Mackay's face contorted, he is seen grabbing Bremner's shirt. The image is seen as one of the most iconic in UK football although Mackay hated it as it portrayed him as a bully. Mackay stated he reacted in the manner he did since Bremner targeted Mackay's left leg (the one he had broken twice) even though this leg was furthest away from Bremner

As has already been discussed in other thread, MacKay was just returning from a broken leg, and the coward Bremner and his dirty Leeds teammates had been targeting it all game.

I didn’t know where to put this but just really wanted to share!

Any more old English football photos? Like pre 1970…stick them here
I love this. I really enjoy looking at old b&w pix, especially of the 1960s as I was there as a child.

That photo sums up how footy used to be grassroots.
