Blazing Squad - the book / film

He gave up a professional career in boxing to build up the Blazin' Squad?

That's the moment I went fuck he's going to regret that when he matures. Then I realised he might never mature. Not sure what's more tragic.

Doubt it, there are lots of very bad pro-boxers who earn very little, it doesn't mean he was any good.

To the OP, did you not get asked to ghost write it or summin?

CRINGE. Is this guy so thick that he thinks people will be intimidated by the name of a shit boy band?
I think you need your hearing tested.

Also the iconic band Friday Hill were partly Blazing Squad. Kenzie had success on Big Brother and also forming 5th Story which was a load of once famous boyband singers looking for one last pay check.

As opposed to the hundreds of hooligans who earn a fortune from being a hooligan?

Probably earn more with the book then by boxing (even if it is £10), people become hooligans as they dare not fight on their own.

I very much doubt that. I know a bit about publishing and unless he sells an obscene amount he won't make much. Also he is only ever going to sell one book before he becomes a forgotten fad. Understand your point about majority of proboxers not making much but it's certainly a smarter more financially viable career move than becoming a criminal hooligan. This is an absurd discussion

Can we not offer up some kind of funding for this mob? We seem to be doing everything right on and off the pitch these days yet I can't help but think our hooligan firms are bringing us down.
Some decent clobber which hasn't been bought from the sales rack at sportsdirect would be a start.

After mickey Francis and friends were sent down in 1989 City firm fell apart, I started the doors in 1998 and my first door was Roses Bar which was City's main pub for a few years as firm was building up again, City had a great firn 1997-2004 again alot of jail sentences handed out (battle at the blob shop ) I used to drink with alot of the guys in the week(never in match day ) and they helped me and collegues on a match day by letting me know where City were and when United were getting in town plus other firms, still drink with them but they've all drifted from scene, odd appearance for Derby day but that's it.

As someone who makes their money these days as an award winning fiction writer, I can tell you this is bang on the money. There's f**k all money in publishing except for right at the top of the pyramid.

Being a criminal hooligan can be quite lucrative but you need to develop other product lines like protection, extortion and drugs, not necessarily the most socially useful way of earning a crust though I would agree.

I think you're right about City's mob going after 1989 mate. Not sure it ever got going again bar the odd big day here and there.

The fact you believe the claim he gave up a boxing career is absurd. I was taking the piss with the book thing, but if you believe the documentary I should have known better I suppose.

As much as you don't like what happened back in the day, you can't escape the fact that people buzzed off the scene. I swear blind that if I lived in Manchester in the 80's I'd have probably wanted to be part of City's mob. Luckily I'm older and wiser now and can't for the life of me see why these kids are still doing it. Way too many consequences to face these days.

I watched the documentary and found it laughable, sadly to say especially the City so called firm who looked the least effective of the motley lot.Young men will always fight and have been doing so for centuries, too much energy, bravado and testosterone, not to mention alcohol too usually, football was another outlet in the day.

Every time such discussion arises the same old tripe is trotted out.''Only in a gang because they can't fight alone'' etcetera. While many firms had a lot of hangers on who would do a lot of shouting, posturing and running, trust me there were some ferocious brave fighters in the day too, individually and collectively. Going to a game, especially away from home was a minefield whether you were in a firm or not.All this talk of firms only fighting others that wanted it is frankly bollocks. If you were sussed out as an away fan you got a dig and either fought back, ran or took a kicking.Really that's how so called firms started it was just lads sticking together at away games initially to prevent getting slapped as an individual. The same at home, some away fans would come trying to take liberties so you either let them or stood up to them. That simple. It did start to get a little more organised later on but the same base as to why they existed remained the same.

Although a buzz at times as anything that has some danger and gets the adrenaline pumping is,it was also at times terrifying.Anyone who has been hunted around the grimy streets of Anfield and Goodison on a wet Wednesday night while trying to get home will readily testify to this!

The day of the hooligan is finished. All seater stadiums, cctv ,banning orders etcetera has seen to that and anyone who seeks this out now must be very stupid. There again society has never been able to put an old head on young shoulders and youths will always be youths.

There is no way this Blazing Squad has seen enough serious action to justify anything more than the piss poor documentary i watched, anything else must be much over hyped fabrication.
