Does anyone else think it might be a good idea to stop people registering, particularly in the transfer window?

This forum has gone from being an interesting source of debate among genuine City fans, to a forum increasingly saturated with newly registered WUM's and childish, uneducated knobheads.

Alternatively, let people register but don't let them post for a specified length of time.

You are not exactly a dyed in the wool original member are you. You need to be able to sift through the garbage and take what you can from it - it's an internet forum.

Im new but not on a wum, had to wait days for my registration.

i don't like the idea of keeping them from registering, but it might make sense to limit new users to 3 posts per 24 hours for about 3 months, or maybe limit the number of posts for new users starting 1 month before each transfer window until the end of it.

That was more that Ric had that many to sift through... not a cooling off period.

On a match though some people could do upwards of 50...

Sorry Oldham, cant agree mate.

One mans meat is another mans poison an all that.....

What makes yours or my posts anymore salient than others? You will get a percentage who will find your subject matter a good point of debate and it maybe more attractive than the 'childish & uneducated' posters, but their posts will also attract other members as a fair point of debate.

I agree, that some threads on here are ridiculous, but again, thats just my view and i certainly believe that there are also some very good new posters on here who attract long threads.

I reckon most of those that you refer to may be here for the excitement of the transfer window and then dissapear.

ERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

well i want people to reg on here as this is a good blue forum but lately we have had some really weird people joining that dont contribute to discussions or opinions but seems to be very aggressive and abusive of members on here... doesnt people read the code of conduct anymore? we need to ban some of them because they really are dragging this board down... read this site on work today (cant post from their) and got really angry on some posters for being so abusive its unreal... Nasty is one... avoidconfusion is another one... just unreal how they still are allowed to post

is it just me but I always thought ths whole idea of the internet was to allow free speech and that includes wum's and knobs

you just have to sift thru the crap

i normally never raise my voice up since i believe in what you say... free speech and all... but there IS a line when free speech no longer is free speech and that is when you turn it into a witchhunt on certain posters and not saying or adding anything else on other threads... there is a line when free speech turns into abusive, bullying language that shouldnt be approproved on an internet forum where we have a large age difference and we all are supporters of the mighty blue... banter is fine... some "bad" joking is fine... but not when it turns into this above

Simple, add a newbs/cretins forum where they can post while only being able read the main forums. I could vet them and decide if/when they are promoted to be able to post on the main boards. I would not take bribes so don't bother PMing me for my paypal details. Sorted.

No, not in the least bit agree with you there m8
not everyone is as literate and as well informed as others but however there contribution is welcomed, as long as they have tried to be honest about it.

Shoulnt this thread be in "off topic"...?
