Well yeah, but why should you have to? It was only the monitoring and recording in this case that actually proved the delivery person wrong. And at any point, your big corporate overlord can just decide, without any recourse, to remotely stop your devices from working. Devices that you assumed you've bought. It's part of this wider issue of buying something but not really owning it. I read a story the other day that LG were trying to boost revenue by having people set up a subscription for their fucking washing machines. Washing machines that they've already paid for, and probably twice the price because it's a 'smart' one. Or BMW putting massage seats into your car but then making you subscribe to a package to 'unlock' them.
