Blue Moon Playlist Review Club - Season 2 - Episode 27 - Out on blue 6 - Gone Too Soon (pg 438)

Let's stick with the list as it is for January then, it was really only in case someone had a specific start if the year theme in mind.

For the January round, if it is meant to be my turn to help, looking at the names left does the below work for everyone? Just trying to give folk enough time, might already be cutting it fine, busy period and all.

2nd @journolud
9th @mancity2012_eamo
16th @stonerblue
23rd @Saddleworth2
30th @threespires

Any issues just say, and will swap with others on the list.

@RobMCFC you'd still need to change thread titles and update your port in page 1 when the time is right, if that's ok.

@GornikDaze, you want your name added to the list of contributers to have a round at some point?

Edit, if anyone has got a particular week in mind by the way, speak up. Including other posters not listed above. I.e starting the new year with a bang, rabbie burns' week (currently sitting with saddles) are two that come to mind, or any other reason really.

Works for me.

I enjoyed listening to this, especially the folkiness of the third track. Karine Polwart has a decent voice and all of the songs were atmospheric in a good way.

You are the second, of the two or maybe three that have listened to this, that pointed out the third track standing out. For me it is the first one, easily. Maybe gets a bit more to get into.

Also, for me her voice is probably the least appealing thing about her work that I like. Always interesting seeing different takes.

I listened a few times.
It’s pleasant enough.
What I really liked, again, was the stuff that came on afterwards.
I was getting all sorts of folk songs that I hadn’t heard in years.
There was someone on at one stage doing a version of ‘ the shoals of herring’. That took me way way back.

I whiled away some of my night shift last night watching the YouTube videos of these tracks, as well as exploring a bit more of her stuff. You’re right in that the first track does take a bit more effort I think but watching it as well as listening is rewarding. It’s the reason I like sitting above an orchestra watching how a piece is put together. There’s some subtlety to the first track that rewards repeated plays

Never watched it actually. Knew there was a video out there but I usually prefer listening only. Will have to look it up though. The whole album it is from is based on a lovely book of poems and illustrations, hence the song doesn't have the usual structure. Cheers for pointing out the video.

That's more down to you than me or this set.

I did think you would have been right in there to point out the Irish connections though.

Enjoyed this playlist, like PCs previous list I thought the mood fitted the time of year well but this was a bit more what I'm more likely to listen too.

I've heard the Battlefield Band a bit over the years but had never really thought about the individual members. Enjoyed all 3 tracks but was most intrigued by the first. Had a look at the album and a description like "Singing nature back to life through the power of poetry, art and magic" isn't normally going to sell something to me but I rather like what I've heard so far.

She has a decent voice but made better by the harmonies.
