Blue Moon Playlist Review Club - Season 2 - Episode 28 - Coatigan - Instrumentals (pg 444)

My last song is going to come back again to the show that helped inspire this thread. So many great tunes used over the six seasons, this was a season 3 emotional high finale on the aging of many characters in the first and most pronounced "flash forward" used. From the Boston Americana and indie band...

"Hold Your Head Up High" - Darlingside

Thanks to @Mancitydoogle for another good playlist.

"Touch of Grey" by Grateful Dead was my pick of the initial five. I remember hearing this and seeing the video with the skeletons in the 80s. I had no idea of the cultural significance of the band at the time.

The two that I hadn't heard before but enjoyed the most were:-

"Edge of Seventeen" - Stevie Nicks
"January Man" - Lau, Karine Polwart

Heard before and enjoyed:-

"18 and Life" - Skid Row
"Broken Cowboy" - The Dead South
"When I Grow Up To Be A Man" - The Beach Boys
"Glory Days" - Bruce Springsteen
"Year of the Cat" - Al Stewart

Wow, just wow on never hearing that song before!

The early 80's are calling and are wondering how you missed this and that album.

Big hit duets with your guy Tom Petty and a favourite of mine with Don Henley thrown in, and it's no wonder Stevie's solo career about eclipsed and easily rivaled her time with Fleetwood Mac.

You need to at least have heard of those, but again, "Edge of Seventeen"* was THE hit of Bella Donna.

* also featured in Jack Black's 2003 School Of Rock movie

Reading up it's from 1981. I didn't get into music until 1986 so everything before this year is catch-up for me.

Now, obviously I have heard plenty from the 50s onwards, my favourite Tom Petty song is "The Waiting" from the same year, but there are always going to be gaps in what I have heard.

I have seen School of Rock so obviously I have heard it without knowing, which is often the way.
