Blue Moon Playlist Review Club - Season 2 - Episode 32 - threespires - Could have been a Contender (pg 472)

Nope. Don’t see any mention in this week’s instructions that it has to be. Is there a standing instruction that I’ve missed?

Anyway, going with my Rush sub theme, I will add “Red Barchetta”.

I asked, spires said he's fine with in the song rather than just title.

"Red Barchetta" is a great choice - both in the title and a good story-song about a car.

'Hear a purrin' motor
And she's a-burnin' fuel'

Gardenia - Kyuss

A criminally overlooked late 80s early 90s band imo, when it comes to discussions of the changing landscape in music. While grunge, that they played a part in shaping, became mainstream, this little forgotten subgenre bridged the gap between what metal had become and where harder rock was going. And a song to timely show I don't dislike solos, as long as they lead somewhere.

@GornikDaze , a song for the day.

Not to mention how beautiful a nicely designed barchetta can be, like the Alfa Guilia barchetta from the early 60s. Happy to be corrected by the Rushites(?) on here but I think Peart had the Ferrari 166 MM in mind which is quite nice too.

Forms of transport - too many songs to choose from. I have a fairly long playlist just featuring motor vehicle related songs.

I get off the ground with Rush: “Countdown”, which is a song about the Space Shuttle.

I did think about narrowing it down to cars or something but thought we'd get more interesting modes, per Rob's Chariot, if it was open.

I will be adding Hawkwind's Levitation at some point.

Quite like that. If I was going to get into any kind of metal orientated music it would probably be more the stoner metal type stuff they appear to be categorised as?

Desert Rock, Sludge Metal, Stoner Rock, Post-psychedelia, Palm Underground. Many names have been thrown at it as a 'scene' of similar bands, Stoner Rock seems to be the one that has stuck most. There are a few good bands in there, and many overlapping crossovers between a wider circle, with some still going today in their 3rd or 4th reincarnation.
