If memory serves, 'Steppy' was a real character who used to play the piano for the fans in the Social Club

I never really went into the SC except for Junior Blues stuff mate so couldn`t say, but I do remember Malcolm Allison`s face when asked about Steppy during an interview once, it went from dead-pan to a big grin, a shake of the head and words to the effect `he`s a bit crazy`.
Very good player imo, bit of a Baresi type character/player but probably a bit ahead of his time iirc, MA employed him as a kinda `sweeper`I think.

If Mal thought he was crazy, then he really must have been mental! ;)

My main memory is that Mal made him captain even though Steppy didn't speak English!

The seven players who were in the youth team that beat United and played for the first team were: Andy Hinchcliffe, Ian Brightwell, Steve Redmond, David White, Paul Moulden, Paul Lake and Ian Scott.

Not sure what two records Allen holds, but I'll guess that one of them is the quickest ever goal by a City sub that time when he came on at Port Vale (I think it was them, anyway) just after we'd won a corner and he scored from the corner.

both right.Other club record was he scored more goals from the subs bench than any other City player-7.

Thought this record was held by the Goat in the Derby from Benarbia's free kick ?

Being an oldie, I think it would be interesting to interview one of the survivors from the pre-Mercer era. I was only a kid then, but if it was anything as chaotic as I recall it, there should be some interesting stories. Somebody mentioned Vic Gomersall. Apparently he's commercial manager at Llanelli FC http://www.welsh-premier.com/index.php/ ... th-his-lot

Dave Connor or Tony Coleman would be a good shout. Forgotten men from the championship side.

How about one of the Scottish contingent who played under Billy Mc Neill? Gives you plenty of choice and it was an interesting era for sure. Gordon Dalziel perhaps?

Would love to know what allan harper is up to these days, was one of my fave players as a nipper for some mad reason, amongst the obvious of course. :0)

Have a feeling he's scouting for Bolton, Blackburn or some other back-of-beyond club beginning with B
