Blue Wembley-Mark Heywood

Like it a lot.

For a footie song it's great and of course other teams would take the piss...but it isn't aimed at them.
Presumably some of the Meldrews on here found the parade and do at the Stadium cringeworthy too.
FFS lighten up a bit.

Love the last line where he throws a "twice" in there.

i think its shit too, lets face it,the song is about City so that automatically makes it 'great' to some people

You have to question the opinion of a 'City Fan' who's only managed to find the biggest MCFC forum that's been around well over 6 years in May 2011 !

Jesus, it's not been produced by Brian Eno with hundreds of thousands of pounds invested in it ! It's a guy who's written a song for our Wembley appearance and I happen to think as a football song its excellent and deserves far more recognition. Of course music is subjective but it seems as it stands your in the minority, but thanks for sharing your considered opinion.

For me, the lyrics are excellent, and is a must for any City fan who wants something they can listen to that will trigger the memories of the two best days of my City supporting life.
' i've only just 'found' BM because i only joined this month, fuckin big yawn, more to the point whats the relevance?
you really think every 'city fan' is a member of BM?
its no different to Chas & fuckin Dave's Ossie's goin to wembley bollocks, most Spurs fans thought it was great while the rest of the country cringed like fuck

No course not every City fan is a member of bluemoon some people - like my brother - just don't go on messageboards full stop. Clearly you do and I find it somewhat strange that you've only very recently been motivated to join BM. At the very least it's smacks of a bandwagon jumper and seeing as you like to 'give the sh*t out' I thought I'd throw some back in your direction and see how you take it - clearly not very well.

I'm sorry I doubt any discerning music fan of any genre would cite 'chas & dave's' spurs are on their way to Wembley as a good song - spurs fans included - but then that was just what it was an old fashioned football song.

This song is a football song with some credibility and words with some meaning. Fine you don't like it, just a shame you couldn't have come up with something better than it's 'sh*t' in your analysis.

You just come across as some b*tter tosser when a guy with some talent has got off his arse to produce a song to celebrate our achievement of getting to wembley and all you can come up with is its 'sh*t'

I reiterate I think its excellent and I would have grudgingly said the same if it had been written and performed for the rags.

I must be a bandwagon jumper because i've only recently been motivated to join BM........bless
Its yet more cheese, the only thing missing is that **** Ferris playing a tambourine in the back ground
you come across as a slapped arse spoilt bastard that stamps their feet when someone disagree's with them, only my opinion mind you and that can't be taken serious as i only joined this month and have less than 100 posts

It's a top top effort with sincere and thoughtful words to an understated, nervy and pleasing melody. Nuff said

Thank you Mark Ellen for your contribution to the debate.

I personally think the lyrics are juvenile and the melody is too simplistic, as for the chorus it sounds like it could've come from a children's nursey rhyme. In terms of being 'nervy' I assume you haven't listened to much music outside of what you hear on The X Factor.

'Nervy'! Honestly that has made my day!

That made your day? You need to get out more.

The bass line with the minor piano chords add tension and the build up towards the end is fantastic, it gave me goosebumps. It's simplicity means it's accessible, not elitist.

You're obviously a talented and creative guy so go use those gifts for good, not to slag off other people's good work.

Thank you for your kind words but I'm still not sure about your assessment of the song, you're making it sound like the medley on side two of Abbey Road!

If the song gave you goosebumps you must be easily excited, it might be an idea to go and have a lie down after all that.

Finally though, please explain what you meant by 'nervy'. I'm intrigued.

Tbh its achieved my objective of keeping this thread going and giving this Mark Heywood some much deserved profile.

They say all publicity is good publicity. I've heard Michael Jacksons's music described as sh*t by some people, which just proves that music is a very personal thing.

Agreed. Like it or not, the guy's made a song about City. Promoting him can only be in the self interest of our fans.

Seems like I have hit a raw nerve with this 'bandwagon' accusation - you just can't let it go. Saw your type a mile off. Clearly you're quite happy to give 'shit' out but can't take it.

Obviously yourself and Jools need to give myself and many of our Blue Moon contributors lessons in the use of the English language as well as musical tastes.

Oh what it must be like to be so perfect - or at least to perceive yourself as being so.

take it all day long pal,all i said was i thought it was shit, its called an opinion, don't see how my 'motivation' for joining BM comes into it tbh,it could have been anyone singing that song(outside the megastore *cringe*)you'd have thought it was great cos its about City....saw your type a mile off ;)

Decent tune but he went to my old school and was/is an arrogant tw*t of the highest degree. You'll still see him prancing round Altrincham as if he's God's gift to the music industry.

Ha ha okay you got me, there is an element of truth in that last sentence, but seriously clowns pockets I do genuinely like the song and I'm sure its not b'cos its about City....... or am I just pathologically programmed to not dislike anything that's connected to City...... now you've got me thinking !!

Ha. I went to school with this bloke. In fact, he was in my year and he's a facebook friend of mine.

He went to St Ambrose in Hale. It's an alright song.
