Good luck to all of you venturing out tomorrow on the glorious 16th!!

I (my mate and I) have pre-baited for the last 4 nights (and again tonight) a joint swim on the Nene.

For the last 2 years, we have both had 150lb plus catches of real quality bream (largest 9lb) each (shared photo's of such with some of you via DM).

Tight lines all, and really looking forward to my 02.00 alarm!
 
Home by 08.00, not a touch between us. Still, no ripple and very bright by 07.00. Far from ideal for bream. Given the weather over the last couple of months, I think they are still downstream/spawning possibly. Try again every 4 days or so until the weed makes it unfishable. Anyone been out today? Any good?

Just arrived near Ross but not fished yet. A couple of lads have been out fly-fishing for barbel without success but have caught a Shad which is on my list this holiday

Just fished the little Ouse Norfolk for about an hour , loads of fish topping,, started to rain so I came in .. Talk about a fair weather fisherman lol... Had a nice Rudd , maybe a lb at a push :)

Beautiful place Ross, I used to work there for a while many years ago. Enjoy.

Good look with the Shad quest, very rare species.
 
Been really busy and hardly been out. Still on my quest to film an ultra-rare big perch from my local canal/river system even though I should be after the barbel now. As it was June 16th after football training I caught the last hour or so on the interconnecting river. Fished three new areas and found some fish in the last one - landed a trout and 2 perch (under a pound) but also got another "lead" on film from another angler who has had a big perch from one of the spots.

I've got a whole spring's worth of footage now and have everything for the film but the big perch. I can't let this one go now!

With rain forecast this weekend I don't think I'll be able to resist the Ribble barbel next week though.

Which stretch of the Ribble are you looking at ? Any of the Albert stretches decent ?

I fish all over the Ribble and yes, all of the PAAS stretches are good. If you are going let me know and I'll try to put you on fish. There was a poster on here a few years ago desperate to catch his first barbel and I ended up taking him on there and we got him one (on the second trip!)

my Poor mum had a stroke at the weekend. She was already pretty poorly with vascular dementia but she has now lost all speech. Bloody hellish sad. She is in the best of hands and the care home staff are bloody wonderful but it sure takes it out of you mentally. Fishing is good therapy.

Just a quick update. My Mum passed last night. The gentlest departure. Care home staff are bloody saints.

Cheers DD. Many years back went to the Post Office stretch, Tickled Trout, this was pre PAAS membership, so over 30yrs ago, there'd been torrential rain all night, think we arrived on the tide, never seen a river rise as quick and as high, totally unfishable, needless to say it was a quick about turn.
