Bluemoon Angling Thread

I believe i can take a partner (non fishing) but i haven't got a partner. I doubt the bailiff would be fooled by two lots of gear and only one card. I don't know whether they'll relax night fishing ban on new members, I'll let you know if i find anything out pal.
Just have some lube and butt-plugs laid out in the bivvy and say you are bumming and that

There's fuck all salmon in there but you still insist on fishing for them ;-)
Even I have drawn the line mate. I haven't been for yonks and won't be until.the temp drops and we get a spate.

You are quite right though.... I am as crazed as a shithouse rat! :)

Off later to the Welsh Dee for a couple of evenings, and perhaps a go on Lynn Brenig this weekend.

Bloody weather. Overcast and pouring down currently. Will be down on the river at 03.30 in the morning and the met office now saying bright sunshine from early FFS! Good job I didn't pay £7.40 for 2 pints of casters earlier. Those plus some dendrabenas and dead reds £25!!

So Wednesday was practice, Thursday my semi final of the National at Harelaw. Sadly, I put in a below par performance on both days. The weather and conditions were ok, a nice breeze, water relatively clear, lots of fish moving, check. No excuses other than I didn’t fish well enough. Actually, I do have an excuse. My old Rutland boat seat finally gave up the ghost and I’m trying to get used to a new Wichwood seat strapped to a thwart board. Whoever designed the bastard thing is a sadist as there is only room for one cheek at a time + the thwart has a habit of rolling if you don’t have it strapped just so. So yes friends I ended up on my back again staring at the sky. At least that was Wednesday and not the competition day. And for my next trick I managed to wrap a newish fly line round the old propeller. That’s £60 down the plug hole. So Wednesday definitely not my finest moment. I ended up with three. One on a dry Two on boobies. My pal who kindly took a day off work to help me, finished with four but had three on a dry fly called a shipman’s buzzer. So I finished Wednesday not too despondent deciding to start Thursday on a ghost tip and booby washing line and then change to dries (shipman’s) and persevere with them.

Overnight stay straight out of League Of Gentlemen, Thursday was a bit of a rerun. Lots of offers but very picky fish, swirling at the fly rather than committing to them. Others were picking up fish quite regularly though. I picked up one on a shipman’s and a couple on Fabs but it was never enough. My boat partner had 4 so I wasn’t out fished but winner had 12 and 7 fish was cut off for the final.

There is always next year.

Where did you stay ?

Thanks for the heads up. We'll stay clear of that one.
It was okish mate. Room clean, pub food ok. Just check in a bit weird. breakfast served at 10.30?!! And hotel locked up until god knows when as it was still locked and unmanned when I left leaving them a note to tell them to charge my card. I got out through a exit only fire escape :-)

Unlucky. We wouldn’t love it if it was predictable. Think of it like City and the champions league: it will be even better when you do win it!

Had three hours exploring the local river with light lures today just because I could. My wife wrote her car off so we’ve got one, and so she had to drop me off and pick me up, restricting my options. Walked about 4 miles. Had one little perch, one that fell off and one that followed me in. Lost about 3 lures in overhanging trees Etc.

When my wife picked me up she’d crashed my fucking car too. Massive damage all down one side from a bollard.

Off to the pub.

Pub's no good mate, you need a garage.

Myself and a couple of mates have just joined Birmingham. We're staying at The Ship Inn, Highly next Tues, Wed and Thursday We are not regular visitors to the Severn, going down with commercial carp gear. Were going with no idea what the fishing is like down there apart from the Sec says Eardington Brook, Apley, Quatford or the Danery lenghts. We are taking plenty of caster, hemp meat and pellets. Anyone been, or can offer any advice. Thanks
