2 brief lure trips this weekend for me. Saturday had an hour and couldn't find anything. Sunday I worked harder with jigged worms and managed two perch and a jack pike from the same swim. Perch were pushing a pound and the pike about 3lb.

out today at last , a couple of hours at the macc canal in adlington, trying out 3 lures i bought ,if i don't fish i buy :) anyway , had a nice jack around the 3lb mark, looked tiny in my new foldable telescopic landing net :) if i don't fish i buy (theme going on here :) had a bit of an issue , my braid got caught up in the folding hinges haha so i only got one picture, having a bigger net allows me to rest the fish properly(in my mind) ,they always looked too big for my old net , got the trebles caught up in the unhookable netting ffs haha, headed back to the car ,had a bit of a trawl and caught a perch( i actually prefer perch to pike)not huge just bigger that a wasp so a very happy bunny, 4 slices of yesterdays takeaway pizza and a pot noodle haha and i had a lovely snooze ,missed the 2nd half of the korean match, ah well a good couple of hours.

oh managed to get the back of my thumb hooked up ,pike on one treble me on the other praying to the fish gods not to let the pike do that spinny shit they usually do in the net ,had a split second panic ,but i wasn't hooked up too badly :) , never a dull moment

Been out about 5-6 times over the holidays. I had an afternoon on a small river legering for chub. I fished creature baits twitched across the bottom for perch in a reservoir, a river and a canal. I fished large lures for pike in a reservoir and a canal. I walked miles overall in cold and warm temperatures and clear and cloudy water.

I didn’t even have a bite.

Been struggling to work up a bit of enthusiasm of late but my fly-casting lessons continue apace and I'm getting reasonably proficient at the "double-haul" ready for Alphonse next month.

Let's hope 2023 is a fishy and a happy one all round.
I have friends going Bone/Permit fishing in a couple of months time. They keep telling me the silly money they have spent in getting there/tackle/fly tying kit. One of them thinks he has dropped a little short of £10k.

Well done on your double haul mate. I still find it a bit counterintuitive. One of the tricks on the flats (seemingly) is simply spotting the scaly little fuckers. Make sure your sunglasses are the best!

Make sure and post some photos. I'm v jealous :-)
