True mate. And they night line my local carp and trout lakes. They will scoff anything.fS, who would eat a Barbel!
There were pictures in the press of one set of nets that were found, you could see dead barbel and a salmon.

A bunch of us were away last week and got talking about the future of the sport. There seem so many challenges:True mate. And they night line my local carp and trout lakes. They will scoff anything.

I'll be on the Trent Barbel fishing one day next week. I'll sling a mackerel or sprat out on my pike rod.Anyone out this weekend ?
I'm down to the Severn after perch tomorrow. Perfect weekend. City Saturday, fishing Sunday.

Where were you fishing?Just got back from chasing a few bass... normally pump my own bait and have decent success , tonight my back was too bad to pump so my old man bought me some yellow tail worm.... they were wrank , not a good start to the night , then the handle on my Abu multiliplier snapped !! No bass and no sign of the mystical cod!!
Nice to be out though :-)
Not a bad idea mate. Anyone wanting to learn the basics of fishing then I'll gladly give some free time up.Spoke to BMR about starting fishing. Something I’ve always wanted to do but never got round to it. Maybe a bluemoon meet-up on the banks of the river ?

Ex TV angler John Wilson has died today aged 75 in Thailand.
He had a programe 'Go fishing' on TV in the 80s. Always seemed a jolly guy with a daft laugh.
RIP.
Unexpectedly good day trotting on the River Churnet near Leek.
Plenty of chublets, dace, roach and perch on caster over hemp though my brother caught more on maggot (73 in fact, the sad bugger counts them so that he can enter it in his fishing diary which he's been keeping since 1974)
The bonus was twin perch both exactly 1.5lbs weighed. It seems to me that, even though they are en vogue at the moment there are more good perch than ever about this year. Seen a photo recently of a guy on the Severn with a brace both over 3lbs.
I would say Matt Hayes got more TV coverage. A sad loss though.Probably the most well known angler in history. A sad loss to the sport.
