There was a thread a few weeks back asking what age people are, a lot of the newer posters were between 15-18. Could perhaps be a big reason why everything becomes an insult throwing, willy waving competition.

Its not the differing opinions that are a problem is the lack of people's ability to debate when they have differng views and turning to insults etc as a first alternative.

Its a shame becasue the increasing minority tar all new posters and the general quality of the board.

Hooliganism is a part of football though, however much you don't like it or disagree with it. It's been around longer than some people have lived on here, it's a worldwide thing and will be around for years to come yet.

I'm no hooligan myself, never have been, never will be, however, I do find it quite fascinating. That doesn't mean I agree with it, I just find some stories interesting. If you wanna throw back at me about innocent fans etc getting their heads kicked in etc then I accept that and understand your comments.

I have never been involved with anything, but I have witnessed things in the last 20 years and part of me would have like to have witnessed the 70's and 80's.

I think that if you think the people who get ivolved in this kind of activity are small minded idiots, then maybe you should look at yourself and think are you actually being small minded and not trying to understand why men are like this. There's soo many factors involved.

British men have always had this agression and violence in them. If they didn't, would you have the country you live in today? We've always had hooligans one way or another who have been violent to win wars and battles going back hundreds of years.

It's not 'British men'. There are plenty of cocks about who see their nationality marking them out as some sort of unique breed. They are wrong. The human race and men in general have always had people who are wankers and can't control themselves and get off on violence within them.

It's nothing special or nothing to get all misty eyed about. It has also always had people in who are selfless, people who are charitable, people who are theives and people who would be on their own separate wing in prison and on 'a list' when they get out.

None of those things are reasons to marvel. They are just part of human nature and it can be better summed up by saying that there have, and always will be some who are less base and others who haven't got the brains or the desire to supress any unpleasant side of human nature. Whether that be something like getting off on giving some random bloke in the street a kicking in a group or something even more serious and criminal. The common theme throughout history though is that less and less people exhibit these dense, base behavioural traits as the race becomes more educated and civilised. It's called evoution and progress.

What you are trying to suggest with the 'this is the British man and what made this country' is bollocks, I'm afraid.

You might as well say what a terrific history we have of producing men who like to scratch their bollocks. That's part of male nature and a lot of men get off on it. It's not more prevelant in the British man though, even though it might be widespread. Just because you are surrounded by some people who love scratching their balls in public doesn't mean their aren't other tossers all over the world giving them a good go in the supermarket queue or when talking to the local nun. Base, rank human behaviour exists everywhere.

Although, if you ever attend a Combat18 meeting I believe this sort of mistry, teary eyed line goes down a treat there and they all take a moment to reflect how they, the British Bulldogs, have a proud history of kicking shit out of people and are some sort of noble historic line of warriors.
