Am I the only one who thinks 5-a-side's a bad idea? I'm not going to argue now it's sorted, but(and Ric knows I've had this argument before) I think things are never solved with 5-a-side.

We've done that twice and we've just had to jig players unsuited to positions all over the place an we've lost twice and I think that'll happen again. I just don't think the dimensions of 5-a-side cover us.

If there's another game, this year, I hope you consider 7-a-side as at least you'll see positions, movements and covering better. Just have to find a pitch big enough to host it.

Ha ha, we've got 4 keepers and no forwards - it's normally the other way round!

Bagsy being the Dean Windass esq forward.

Matty can play up front, my mate that played center mid last time. Naturally a forward.

Why don't we see who turns up and go from there. After the five aside we could get together for a kick about once or twice before the game, of course I'm presuming that only 12 people turn up.
If thats the case I'd have no problem chipping in for a full size/bigger pitch for a practice.

I do agree that five-a-side isn't the best way to judge. Anyhow I've booked the 24th off work so me and my fellow blue will be showing up.

Once I knock the rust off I think I can be cover for any defensive position (barring left back) and I think I can be useful as an Attacking or Defensive mid. Though I may yet discover I'm shit!

Whats the standard of the players who usually turn up then?

A broad range I'd say. Got some decent players like Tom_mcfc and then some bad ones liek Matty

....and then some chunky ones like The Fat el Hombre.

Not sure if it's possible, or if it's too late/unavailable but there's a pitch at Platt Lane that I play 8-a-side on Monday evenings, you could possibly try and get that one. It's the same surface as JJB, it would be perfect.

I think really the 5-a-side is to show you can actually kick a ball/run for longer than 5 minutes more than anything. Plus, it's fun and a chance to get to know each other :)
